Process for Identifying Materiality for the Press Kogyo Group

Identification of candidate Materiality

In light of international standards and guidelines such as ISO26000, GRI Standards, and SDGs, as well as the assessment items of major ESG assessment organizations, we identified social issues and management issues from a medium- to long-term perspective.

Assessment of the degree of materiality of the candidates for Materiality identified

The management, including external Directors, and each division of the Group evaluated the materiality of the identified candidate material issues from two perspectives: “Materiality to Stakeholders” and “Materiality to the Group.” For “Materiality to the Group,” the assessment focused particularly on the following three areas: “contribution to the global environment,” “strengthening of the Group’s management base,” and “creation of new value (growth).” As a result, we narrowed down the candidates for materiality to 21 items and created the following “Materiality Map” according to the degree of materiality.

Validity assessment and organizational decision

Based on the “Materiality Map,” the management including external Directors exchanged opinions, evaluated the validity, and linked the 21 items for the candidate materiality to the relevant SDGs and put them into four categories.
Following this, the Board of Directors has resolved to identify the four categories after the aggregation as the Group’s Materiality, and to position the 21 items before the aggregation as “Activity items.”
We will continue to integrate the Materiality and Activity items into our business plan, promote initiatives to address the issues, and assess our activities.
