Axle
What's Axle
Axles refer to the axle units within the running system of automobiles, and consist of components such as the axle case, gears and brakes. Axles are classified into the following types: front axle, rear drive axle and rear dead axle.

Function
In most trucks, the front axle takes the weight of the vehicle and is used for steering. All-wheel-drive vehicles, the front axle also transfers driving force to the front wheels.
The rear axle is classified into the drive axle, which takes the weight of the vehicle and transfers driving force to the wheels, and the dead axle, which helps take the weight of the vehicle.

①Forming
An axle case is divided into upper and lower steel plates that are stamping. For large axle cases, steel plates 14 mm thick are heated and stamped with a large 3,000-ton press.
②Welding assembling
The stamping axle case, forged end tubes, and brackets are mostly assembled using arc welding. A robot is employed for the welding process to save on labor.

After the welding has been completed, the axle case undergoes machining and polishing on the end tubes (located at either end) and the mounting surface of the differential carrier (located in the center).
④Axle unit assembly
Such peripheral components as the differential gear, axle shaft, hubs, and brakes are mounted onto the axle case, then it is coated and finished.
